SAP Business Information Warehouse (SAP BW) is the name of the business intelligence, analytical, reporting and data Warehousing (DWH) solution, which is one of the major business software applications produced by SAP AG.
BW components consist of, among other things, data (Data Warehousing Workbench) large-scale data modeling capabilities, a built-in analytical engine, a suite of rich user interface analysis refererred if Bex Business Explorer) and the tools to be used in importing the most current transactional data systems. It may be useful to consider the three layers, which form the structure of the SAP BI solution
* The production, transformation and load (ETL) layer - responsible for extracting data on the specific source, applying transformation rules, and loading the SAP BW system.
